Baby head measuring large and jumping percentiles - positive stories please!?

Hey, I have recently had my first baby and since birth his head has been measuring big but at my 5 day health visitor appointment it had jumped from the 75th percentile (2 days old) to the 98th (5 days old) and in a week has gone up to the 99th.
Doctors said I shouldn't be too concerned as he is acting normal but I can't help but worry.
Has anyone had a similar experience? He is now 17 days old.
Thank you xxx

My DS had an extremely large head, both at birth and afterwards - a proper whopper. We were on the very highest centiles. I needed a c section because of it and he looked like a lollipop as a newborn. There was some minor comment - I had to have some extra scans - but he developed extremely normally and nothing was required to be done

He is currently sitting next to me on the sofa, back from uni. He is doing Philosophy so maybe a huge head is a positive asset. Smile. I can’t really tell if his head is still big as he has a crazy manbun thing going on. Hmm

Enjoy your newborn. Listen to the drs and if they say don’t worry, don’t worry. Have a lovely Christmas Smile

Oddly it can also be regional. Both of mine had big heads but the HV said most people do in our fairly insular town.

Hi @TawnyPippit thanks for replying!! I know I shouldn't but you start googling things and now I have worried myself!
I also had to have a C section because he wouldn't come out which could have been because his head was so big! Did you son start on the top percentile and stay there? The thing is with my baby is that the first pead marked him between the 50th/75th percentile which I definitely think was a mistake as he had an obviously big head from birth! So now they are worried about the huge jump from that percentile to the 99th. But as you said, maybe it's just because he has a large brain Grin
Merry Xmas! xx
