Exclusively pumping mums

20 weeks of exclusively pumping and my nipples are starting to feel really sensitive. I have tried different nipple balms and creams but they haven't helped much. Pumping 5-6 times a day and getting a good amount of milk but really struggling with the pain.

Any advice or even stories of your pumping journey?

Are you using the correct size flange for your nipples? Most pumps come with a standard size but if you have smaller or larger than average nipples it can be painful after a while. Not such a problem for the occasional pumper but if you're exclusively pumping you'll want it to be the right fit.

You can measure your nipples and then order either different sized flanges that fit your pump, or universal inserts for any flange if you have very small nipples.

I have flat nipples so have tried multiple different flange sizes and my nipples seem to be elastic and return to normal after each session. Not sure how to combat the issue in all honesty 🥲

Ah I too know the issue of elastic nipples! My whole boobs are pretty elastic. I used pumpin' pals flanges, I ordered them from the US. They're silicone and a different shape and so much more comfortable.

I also used flange inserts in a hands free collection cup that I attached to my normal pump with some extra tubing, and that seemed to work best of all for my weird shaped boobs.
