Postpartum bleeding (graphic picture)

Hi,

I gave birth to my daughter 13 days ago. Normal vaginal delivery. My bleeding after birth until yesterday has been very minimal, less than what I would get with a period. My pads have been more or less dry all day and only a bit of bleeding when I wiped. Then yesterday 12 days post partum I got out of the bath and within 10 min had a big blood clot. See picture. I rang the midwife and she said as long as I don't lose any more heavy bleeding it was probably nothing to worry about. ( my anxiety was through the roof all day) but I didn't really lose any more blood just a very tiny amount of brown. Then today when I needed to empty my bowels I had cramps and shooting pains through my bum/vagina (I sometimes get similar on my period) then when I wiped I had red blood again ( no clots) I did have to strain a bit when going to the toilet. I'm just a bit worried as I thought red bleeding should have gone by now. I'm wondering if anything similar has happened to anyone else? Thanks x

Have you been doing more then usual? That can make you bleed more.

That’s quite a big clot though. Are you seeing the midwife again?

I had a big clot a few days after delivery. Exactly like you, had been bleeding normally and then giant clot. Didn't have any more - weird. I'll see if I have a pic and will post if I find it. I had the shooting pains thing too - was really strange but 10 months on they seem to have subsided.

That’s quite a big clot though. Are you seeing the midwife again?

I'm seeing her again Tuesday so will show her the picture then. I have spoke to them again over the phone tonight and explained how big it was but they didn't seem concerned as long as I don't bleed continuously or get a fever.

Thank you. How long did you bleed red blood for? I'm not bleeding much more when I wipe than on pad I'm just concerned it's still red

A bit smaller than yours but still considerable clump. What's even worse is that I literally was just getting changed from the shower and had sat down to put on my knickers and that fell out!

Luckily I had one of those towel things down.

I bled for a few weeks - sorry I can't be more exact seems like such a time ago now! But I do remember it wasn't as long as a month. So probably around 3 weeks I would say.

For scale it was probably the size of about 3 50p pieces
