Hey guys!
I have a 3 week old baby, she has been formula fed from the beginning and is on SMA - we have not tried any other brands with her.
She started on the original SMA formula and seemed fine for a few days. However, she started to show signs of constipation, very unsettled, knees right up, very red. Her poo was also coming out very large and formed (I don't even know how she got it out!)
What I did was switch to SMA comfort formula, says it's for colic and constipation. The constipation eased and poo changed dramatically. It's not your typical mustard colour and was coming out almost like a paste. Past few days it has become a lot looser (almost like melted ice cream) and is a very dark green colour (has been green since changing the formula)
Today I've heard her tummy gurgling a lot and she has a lot of wind (the bottom end)
When she does poo you can hear it all coming out (sorry TMI!)
Not really sure what I should do now? Is this normal for comfort formulas? Should I switch back to the original SMA as is this now too much for her tummy and going right through her? Not sure about giving her the original in the day and comfort at night or would that mess her up and cause more discomfort?
Any advice would be really appreciated! X
