Shaving after c section

My scar is closed up and pretty much nearly healed I had my section 2 weeks ago..

How long did you all wait to shave down there I'm absolutely desperate 🤣😭

I’m also 2 weeks post section and wondering the same. It doesn’t feel safe to shave it yet though 🙈 The glued on plaster gave me a lovely wax as I peeled it off at 1 week but other than that the rest is in dire need 😂

So ladies, how long did you eventually wait? I'm just over two weeks after my section and I'm too scared to brave the shave 🙈

Ooooh I think I waited about 4 weeks post section and it scared the bejesus out of me then to do it!! Actually, I think I did everything below the scar then and even left the scar itself another week or so as was too scared!

Happy to report it was ok and still is now, 15 weeks on though the scar and area above is still numb but seems this can take up to a year to settle down again if indeed it does at all.

@TheGlitterFairy thank you! I'm 4 weeks post section today and definitely wouldn't be brave enough to go over the scar but I'll give below a go!!

My first section was over 8 years ago, can't remember how long it took for feeling to come back but it definitely did. Would have been at least a year though. I wonder if it will this time 🤔

In what way desperate? Is it really hairy around your scar? I'm sure they shaved the area where the scar is when I was in theatre so 2 weeks later it was still just stubble.

I'm not being goady I've just never been desperate to shave down there and 2 weeks after my c sections I'd not even be thinking about it!

Did anyone try this or get an answer I'm almost 5 weeks after my C-Section the outer corners of the scar seems to have a few stitches left but apart from that seems to be healing well but Im terrified to shave it😬?

Hey! I can't even remember when I shaved after I posted this but it wasn't long possibly a week? I just shaved downwards over my scar and just left it a bit messy round that area but did all the rest and it was fine, if anything I feel like it helped me heal faster cos it wasn't rubbing against the hairs all the time!! Nothing to worry about ladies x

@ToadstoolBubbleMaker so I didn't shave for ages before my c section cos my bump was so big I couldn't see properly or at all down there, and I had planned to have DH help me do it the night before the c section so it was all fresh, then they told me in my pre op the day before that I wasn't allowed to shave! And they never shaved me in theatre I don't think they do that anymore. So you can imagine the state it was in! 🤣

Oh cripes...

My 3rd section is next week and I had planned a quick tidy up a few days before and then to just let them loose with a razor in theatre, as I think that's what they did before. If they don't do that any more it will be a bit wild Grin

@ToadstoolBubbleMaker well they didn't with me and when I asked the mw she said they don't do it anymore... might just be different hospitals do different things! But yes I'd definitely try doing some landscaping before you're due to go in I wish I had!

Hi Guys I decided I was feeling brave last night after asking on this post if anyone has done it yet as Im almost 5 weeks after my C-Section and managed to do it fine to anyone that's asking just be careful if you still have any stitches I only shaved close as I could around the scar then started doing it side ways and the opposite direction instead of towards the scar as I can't see it properly with my "belly pouch" just be careful as I caught a stitch with the razor at the end and decided I had done it close enough🤢😅 so take your time whilst doing it if you decide to do so😊

I shaved a week later but just avoided the scar line. It was a bit of a crappy job I’ll admit but it made me feel better to have most of the area hair free. As my c section pouch reduced over the next weeks and I could bear touching the area I very carefully shaved closer and closer to the scar line Smile

Im coming up to 3 weeks postpartrum c section ,
Wanting to know whens best to shave too
Should i wait upto the 6 weeks ?
