Finding resources for post birth PTSD

Hi mamas, I had quite a difficult birth.
It’s been about 3 weeks and I’m finding myself getting flash backs that make my heart race and make me teary several times a day. So far I’ve been trying to push them away and not confront the emotions.
But it’s getting hard to ignore. I wanted help figuring out how to go about getting support. Do I contact my gp about having postnatal depression? (Is ptsd the same as depression?), are there any charities,
counselling services, support groups I can access? I’ve gone through PALS for my first delivery and didn’t really find it useful as they just gave me a really medicalised review of the birth - rather than emotional support or tools for coping in my day to day.

Thanks in advance.

So sorry to hear that you're struggling.

You might find the North Trauma Association helpful as they can tell you what type of help may be best suited to PSTD relating to birth trauma and where to get it.

Congratulations on your new LO and I hope you find some help Thanks
