How long did you all wait after your c section to go back to the gym? Or to excersise.

Would I be able to just start off using the treadmill and swimming after a few weeks? No idea what to expect! Tia x

I started back well within 6 weeks when I had my first, full on cardio, swimming, runs, but I was super fit (back then!) recovered quickly enough to be driving within days, etc. Looking back, i should have taken it easier. Subsequent cs were harder recovery and I took more time out.

I started off with lots of walks with baby from a week or so. Made it easier to do gentle exercise and not rush back to squats and runs.

You should have a gp check up at 6 weeks, so my advice is to take it slow until then. Get the all clear before hitting the treadmill too hard, but know that everyone is different, so do what feels right for you. Ask the midwives on your post natal check ups to see how you’re healing and take it from there.
