Infected haematoma post c section

Has anyone had one before?

Had elective c section (my 2nd after an EMCS with my first baby Dec19). Day 5 I noted there was some swelling going on behind my wound. Mentioned to midwife, she said looked a bit bruised but OK
Pain got worse through the day, by bedtime I was calling triage explaining something was up with it (swelling quite significant), agreed would go in for it to be checked following morning. Shortly thereafter it 'burst' as in lots of watery blood came out, stitches intact. Pain was unbearable. Went into triage. Admitted to postnatal. Antibiotics administered but got a big fever so they were switched to new ones
They've said it's an infected haematoma but so far noone is really doing anything about it.. It's still leaking old blood. I am now at day 10 post op and still in hospital.

Anyone had similar? What happened? How did you recover? I feel desperate and hopeless. I have a 19month old at home who I'm not allowed to see (never left him for longer than 1 night before) and I'm miserable!

Hi, how are you feeling now? I'm in the exact same situation, 4 weeks post c section and 4 different antibiotics later.

I ended up with 7 different antibiotics as some weren't responding and I ended up being allergic to others. But eventually they cleared the infection. Whilst in hospital they also 'drained' the hematoma, I got gas & air whilst they squeezed all the crap out! My wound still leaked for several weeks afterwards but I think by 8 weeks it was totally healed over and I was 'mended'. The scar however is quite thick and lumpy (not great but at least I'm OK now!).
Sorry to hear you've had a problem as well, I thought I was the only one! What happened in your case?
