This woman is clearly dangerously underweight. I don't need to explain the implications on women who've just had a baby seeing this picture. Unbelievable.

Horrendous angle too - makes the man look about 5x the size with arms like cranes and hands like dinner plates

BeachWaves2 · 18/06/2021 19:43

Omg 😨

Whinge · 18/06/2021 19:47

Oh WOW Shock

That's awful, I really hope MNHQ respond and remove the image.

Fizbosshoes · 18/06/2021 19:51

How long before "weve lost sight of what normal weight looks like..."

thecognoscenti · 18/06/2021 19:52

That's awful. She looks very unwell. MNHQ - sort it out.

Twistered · 18/06/2021 19:53

MNHQ what have you got to say for yourselves?

Absolutely agree with OP.

GreenCrayon · 18/06/2021 19:54

Oh yikes that's an appalling picture in any article but to have it accompanying a post relating to women who have just given birth is mind-blowing!

The women in that image is not what normal looks like and if someone comes on and says otherwise they are just being a petty idiot.

Elisandra · 18/06/2021 19:54

Does Mumsnet choose these images? Or is it some agency who have absolutely no clue and have not been briefed?

It's not a great image generally. Looks a bit...grabby.

Actually that's pretty much what my back looks like (or it would if it were at that stupid angle). I just happen to have a naturally very skinny build, and didn't really put on weight in pregnancy - not through any effort on my part I can assure you. At my six week check up post-birth the doctor pointedly said to make sure I was eating enough as I was breastfeeding and was actually at a lower weight than pre-pregnancy. I was bloody ravenous and eating all the time though. My BMI is in the healthy range, although it is at the lowest end. Please don't say my natural body is unhealthy or unwell - I'm just built that way.

It is a shit picture though and I agree with your point - it should be changed for something that depicts the average not the extreme.
