Periods after a C Section- don't understand.

I am nearly 10 weeks post CS. Had lochia for 5 weeks then started my first period straightaway with no gap. This period was the heaviest I ever had even more so after my first assisted birh. Lasted for 10 days and I was literally gushing. GP said couldn't do anything for me this close after birth so rightly or wrongly I got some tranexamic acid off my mum which helped a lot.

Last Monday when I was due on again started off with some spotting which 2 days later turned bright red and heavy. Was showing no signs of slowing down so again took two tranexamic tablets which reduced the flow immensely until period stopped. Now, 2 days later I am bleeding bright red again! Never had anything like this in my life and I am starting to panic. Could it be because of the tranexamic acid? Or something related to the C section?

I know periods can be up and down after birth but my periods returned to normal by second cycle after DS1 and I just kind of assumed it would be the same again.

Also must add I am not on any hormonal contraception atm, so no links there to explain this bleeding.

Any advice/experiences?

I've not had a c-section so don't know if that affects things but personally, I'd go straight back to the GP.

I had a c section - my first period afterwards was very very heavy with gushing, second cycle very similar - go from nothing to full flow within minutes.

This was my second c section and I recall the same happened for the first few cycles after the first ones - I think it took 3/4 months to settle
Down

I wouldn't take the tranexamic acid though and just let them settle down naturally

I had heavy bleeding like 4th day lochia at 8w pp. I went to hospital as it was within the 12w window for post-partum haemorrhage (and this is more common with a section) so had a scan. I was bfing so a period wouldn’t be usual. The scan showed that the bleeding wasn’t from the uterus but it was an ectropion. Have you had any verification that it was a period? The ectropion was quite harmless and settled down within a few weeks.
