Hi. Just wondering if anyone has suffered with anaemia after having a baby? I was on iron tablets immediately after I had my baby for 4 weeks as my iron was low after the birth but then I never had a repeat blood test to see if my iron levels had gone up. I'm 5 months pp now and have been getting so so tired, weak, dizzy and just generally ill. I had a blood test abs my iron levels were still low so have been five. Iron tablets for 3 months. Has anyone experienced anything similar? I would have thought my iron would have been back to normal by now xx

Hi

Is it worth considering that may be your body struggling to absorb iron? I am not medical professional but my iron level is also low and I am also on tablets twice a day. I did some research and found vitamin c rich food helps in iron absorption and try not to drink caffeine tea/drinks straight after meals which I was doing all the time in winter months. Caffeine affects iron absorption. I feel much better now.
If it still does not help ask doctor to rule any underlying issues like internal bleeding etc.

Hope you feel more energetic soon
