2nd period super heavy

Hey.

My lo is 10 weeks old on Friday. Straight forward delivery. Bled for 2 weeks quite lightly. 6 weeks and I got my first period which was fairly normal in terms of flow etc but lasted about 7 days instead of my usual 4-5. My 2nd post postpartum period started yesterday (30 day cycle) and today its been crazy. I soaked through a maternity slim pad in 4.5 hours (was in hospital with my little one, I do usually change more frequently for hygiene!) Then I nearly flooded a night time pad in 3 hours after that. The blood I am losing seems to be more watery than it was before, like it's just flowing out of me quicker.

I feel a little tired and drained but other than that OK.

It's my 2nd baby and while I remember my periods being all over the place and a little heavier with my 1st child I don't think they were quite this heavy (but they did take longer to come back at all..) I'm not breastfeeding however my boobs leaked from 30 weeks pregnant to about 6 weeks post partpartum.

Anyone else had a similar experience? Do I need to be concerned?

Speak to your GP. It may not be, but the tiredness could be due to blood loss. If you can't get a telephone appointment quickly, ring 111.

I don't feel overly tired. No more than I would usually on my period, but I do feel a little drained like I just can't be bothered. The loss is better today but still heavier than usual.
