Hello everyone

Does anyone have any experience with jaundice and photo therapy with an EBF baby?

My baby spent last night under the lamps and waiting for results to find out if he needs more 😣 how likely is it that 1 night will be all he needs? I'm an emotional mess with a 6 day old 😔 x

Oh bless you . It’s so hard seeing them in there.
My daughter was very jaundiced and had 3 days under the lamps. She was bf but I had to express and then bottle feed for the first 3 weeks as she was so sleepy. Once she started to wake up then things got much easier.

Hi Becky

How did you get on? My daughter had to get a blood test today and waiting on the hospital phoning me back to let me know a plan.

My daughter is bottle fed up has lost weight since day 5 but today is day 10.

How many days did your baby need under the light and did you get to stay with your baby? X@beckyyl

Hey Rebecca

It was an emotional few days but we got there! He only needed 1 night under the lamp, with all the feeding and resettling he ended up under there for about 7 hours.

He had another blood test that night at 10.30 and the doctor said he was expecting him to need another night as he still was extremely yellow - but he passed the test and we got to go home! The jaundice didnt completely clear for about 3 weeks but the phototherapy treatment works amazingly.

Yes they put me in a side room on the maternity ward and I got to stay the whole time. They wheeled the special crib in, said to me when you feed him take him out take his mask off and turn the light off then when he's ready put his mask on put him under and turn the light on. We were pretty much left to our own device for the night. Then the doctor came in at 6am to do a blood test, which thankfully was low enough to stop treatment and then they had to repeat the blood test at 10.30pm to check he hasn't increased (as often they rebound and bounce up). Let me know how you get on! X
