Hi all
I gave birth 4wks ago and had 3 tears, at first I had complete incontinence and couldnt hold a wee in, been doing pelvic floor exercises etc now im able to hold it in BUT if im going to the loo and urine is in full flow i cant stop it if that makes sense? Kind of just falls out of me and i have no control like you know when you are able to stop start the flow of urine if need be, im unable to, will this improve in time? Am i just being impatient? Only been 4 weeks this is my first baby so all new to me, any one else that has expieiences or tips to help me would be great x

Hi
I think it does take time to heal. I was wondering whether you have been referred to a physio? We have specialist women's/postnatal ones where I am. GP or HV could refer you.
Congratulations on the arrival of your baby.

Hey @1990fran
It takes time to heal 😊 I'm 7 weeks pp and I am still in the same position as you, I don't leak, have very little control once on toilet but it is better than it was! So I think with time it will get better!
I 100% recommend getting yourself to a physio (whether NHS or private) at around 6 weeks - it gave me the reassurance than everything was healed properly externally and were able to tell me my current pelvic floor strength and how to do pelvic floor exercises properly (turns out I am doing them wrong!!).
Good luck and don't rush your recovery!
