Hello all,

I wanted to see if there is any advice for me.
11 days ago I gave birth to a health baby boy. I had an emergency c-section and had lots a lot of bloody and contracted sepsis. I had a terrible time.
Iv been back home for a week and I just feel depressed , down, I can't seem to shake it off.
What do you think I should do if it doesn't go away?

Thanks

Sorry you're going through this. At 11 days pp, everything is still so raw, your body and mind need longer to rest, process your birth and recover. Be gentle with yourself, it's only normal to feel depressed at this point. You've had a tough birth, but you made it, you and your baby! Take one day at a time, don't try to overdo things, every progress is a success, even small. Remember that the tallest tower was started with only just a brick. I would suggest a birth debrief, ask if your hospital does this. It can be help you make more sense of your birth, and ask questions to understand why certain things happened. Also, writing your emotions down can help unload what's on your mind. Finally, consider getting in touch with your maternity services as they should have midwives specialising in pp mental health. Above all, be gentle with yourself, what you've done is amazing!

Thank you for your lovely reply's, I'm still feeling down but I have been trying to focus on different things. The evening are the worst. I think it's the lack of sleep and the busy days.

Oh god yes! Actually for me, it's about 3am, I feel like I'm the only person awake in the world.

Glad you're starting to feel a bit better. C sections are no small thing, I still feel a bit uncomfortable where there scar is, especially when I wear jeans.

Your not the only one, 3am is the worst, it's not quite morning but it's not the evening. How old is your baby now? And how's the sleeping? My baby is 3 weeks old and it slowly going longer in between feeds. I miss sleep 😩
