Internal stitches post vaginal delivery

Hello, I'm 12 weeks post delivery, forceps, episiotomy and a 3B degree tear. I had to have silver nitrate to help out overheating externally at 8 weeks. All healed.

I've not had sex and only recently braved putting a finger in to see what's going on but.... 😢

It feels so tight and like I have tough wire going across the inside of my vagina like a ridge. This tough bit I think is from the skin pulling into where the stitching is. I can just about get a finger in, and struggled with sex before with being quite tight there and having a reoccurring tear (my husband is large 😳)

I have dilator trainers from previous and I'll start on those but wonder if it's worth trying and if scar tissue stretches? Or contact the GP now? Im sad.

Mind our daughter doesn't give us time to ourself anyway so it's not like we'd have the chance... 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

Hi! Sorry to hear about your tear, awful things.
If you are on Facebook there is a group called Birth Tear Support, might be useful for you to join that, everyone in the same boat and lots of different experiences x

Honestly 12 weeks is still so soon, you probably have lots of internal healing still going on. I only had an episiotomy due to a ventouse birth and though my scar looked fine I had unexplained pain internally in the area until about 8/9 months post-partum. Pelvic floor physio helped as my muscles were weak too, we didn't have sex until about 9/10 months post-partum. When I saw a GP at a similar stage to you they just said come back in 3+ months if it's still sore as it can easily take 6 months or so to heal. So I would definitely see GP if you're concerned, but don't think that things won't continue to change moving forwards as they may well do.

Thank you so much @KCN2020 I hadn't heard of that group but have now found it and joined. It looks really useful. Thank you, I really appreciate it

@MeadowHay thank you so much. That's really interesting too. I now have an appointment in person in May as apposed to the phone appointment so that'll be five months by then. Thank you so much. That gives me hope ☺️

I had 2nd degree internal tear and graze on my labia after my first. I didn't have sex until at least 6 months after I was in a mess. Did the worst thing ever and looked at my fanjo a day after giving birth.. it still haunts me today 🤣ky DD is 1 now and honestly I'm only just starting to feel normal although I think I've had a mild rectocele. I'm pregnant with baby no.2 now so I'm panicking about the birth already lol.
