Bleeding on the implant

Hi everyone.

I had my little boy in July and was given the implant shortly after delivery. I have been on the implant before and it was great, but this time I seem to be bleeding more than I’m not. Has anyone experienced this? What did you do? I feel that after 7 months things should be settled but it honestly feels like I get back to back periods, it’s driving me crazy!

Me too, had mine in for 16 months and I've had 3 blood free days in that whole time. Getting it removed next week, I've had enough.

You need some treatment for that, it is not uncommon after giving birth but it won't stop without help. See your gynae.

As an aside, your thread title would be good for a film or novel - or the name of a rock group. Original!

I'm having this too, third implant and no issues previously. With this one there is light bleeding/spotting almost every day. I am currently taking the combined pill as well to control the bleeding (working great) and will get the implant removed as soon as clinics are running again and just stay on the pill. First two implants I had zero bleeding at all so no idea why this one is different but I won't get it again.

I'm on the combined pill too but it hasn't worked whatsoever :( don't know what to try next, might try a copper coil

Haha definitely an original title! Grin

I phoned my GP to make an appointment to discuss things, but as you know things are a bit chaotic at the moment so won’t have a (telephone) appointment until the 24th. When I told the receptionist about why I was calling she was surprised that I suggested being prescribed the pill too and assumed that the doctor will suggest taking it out so we’ll see.

In the meantime I’ve been doing some research and might try the copper IUD as well. I want to avoid just the pill as I fell pregnant while taking this! Maybe hormones aren’t for me anymore?

Honestly I'm the same, every hormonal contraception makes me bleed like mad. I already have 4DC so want something permanent! Requested a sterilisation but was told I'm too young.

I had this!

I had the implant for 3 years, it was amazing no periods at all! Then I got it replaced and I had back to back bleeding, for months and months. The Dr prescribed the pill to help 'settle things down' as they were reluctant to take the implant out, but it didn't help at all.

In the end I had to go private to get the implant out as the waiting list was 3 months.

I'm now just on the combined pill only and that seems to be working (for now anyway)

It's such a pain OP! I hope you get it sorted soon x
