Health Visitor post birth

I had my baby in August 2020, interested to hear if anyone with a similar birth time has seen/heard from a health visitor since the 10 day post birth appointment?

It's a long time since I've had mind but hopefully this will bump for you.

Mine was born in September and we saw the Hv in person once - for his 6-8 week appointment and nothing since! Ten days was a phone call

Also a Sept 2020 baby here. Saw HV day 11 (she came round), had a video call with another HV at 6 weeks and that's it!

Different circumstances but I had my first baby back in January 2019. She was seriously ill and came home with long term health concerns. The health visitor came once, made lots of sympathetic noises, and then vanished. I've never heard from her since and have never known how to contact her. Some of my friends have had better experiences with theirs.

December 2020 second baby, not seen her once. Missed 10 day, no call, missed following week (according to chart sent out) I then went to GP re colic, reflux and received a message on my voicemail saying she had been trying to contact me (she had not). I've sent a text and left a message every week and nothing.

Midwifes were just as bad. Baby was section but I had to get someone to drive me twenty miles for heel prick on day three as they forgot about her. They then did not come out at all.

So if I had not taken her to GP she has not been seen at all at home and once day three since birth.

Second baby born September 2020 (pre-term born at 36 weeks), she came out once at 2 weeks and called at 7 weeks (she couldn’t get me off the phone quick enough, the call was under a minute long!). I tried to contact her a couple of weeks ago but no response! It’s ridiculous how poor postnatal care is!

It is shockingly poor. Perhaps @MNHQ should think about campaigning fir better post-natal care?

I live in Scotland and had my first baby in August. We saw the health visitor at 11 days, 6 weeks, 4 months and she's coming again at 8 months. I feel very lucky when I hear about other people's experiences.

End of March 2020.

Saw midwife very briefly in person for heel prick and weighing.

Did the first hv as a phone call. Didn’t see one since, until this month when we had an in-person visit at eleven months.

Same as above. Baby march 2020,first meeting was 9 month check.

I think there is a vaccination at 1yr which we will have to go to the clinic for. Not sure. Will wait to see what comes in the post.

Had a baby March 2020, saw midwife for heel prick but never saw the HV in person. All contact has been on the phone for the check ups.

Namechange200121 · 15/03/2021 05:55

Saw midwife at day 5 and 10 for heel prick, had one telephone call from HV and never heard anything since! Had to ask nurse to check my csec scar when took DD for first jabs. Never had my six week check up either, due to Covid they weren’t doing them. My daughter was born May 2020

Kroptopbelly · 15/03/2021 06:00

From what I can gather there is a huge shortage of HV and the ones who have stuck it out are heavily involved in safeguarding.
Buried under paperwork and court proceedings or off sick due to the horrific things that they deal with.
Another facet of the NHS gone to shit.
