Failed coil fitting (13 weeks PP)

So I went to get the copper coil fitted today. But apparently I have an incredibly tight cervix and after 3 attempts they couldn't get it in!

I then stood up to have a pool of blood just drip out of me which made me feel faint! Is that normal!? I think I'm due on my period this week so I don't know if it was blood from the coil fitting or it's just aggravated my cervix into my period blood coming out (sorry TMI)

They want to try again in 2 weeks but the failed attempt has put me off Confused

Has anyone had experience of a failed coil fitting and then tried again with success?

Who was fitting it for you?

I’ve had two - the first was fitted at the family planning clinic where the doctor was very experienced and well practiced. Im not sure all GP’s are as well practiced at fitting them?

Also if you can have it fitted when you’re actually on your period, not just due, your cervix will definitely be open?

I’m afraid I didn’t get on with mine generally and gave up on it in the end (crampy heavy periods) but I know they’re great for some people.

Sorry can’t be of more help!

Exactly this happened to me OP. First attempt was GP. Second attempt was Family Planning Clinic as my GP thought they’d manage. They didn’t! I was referred for an internal scan (think they took measurements?). With the scan info I had it successfully fitted third time lucky at the FP Clinic. I absolutely love it! It’s made my periods a bit heavier.
