Hey,

I'm a first time mum and did not know when babys cried tears until I googled it and it freaked me out. Says by 2 weeks old! My LG cries and seems fine in every other way but never produces tears and never has. Her eyes aren't dry and look normal apart from this.

What could this mean? Anyone elses LO had this ?

I have messaged HV but waiting on reply.

Thanks

Mine only has tears when he does a certain type of cry, not every time. Maybe she just doesn’t get that upset?

My first baby had blocked tear ducts so didn't produce tears until about 4 weeks old. I did check in with his doctor about it but they said the ducts would probably unblock naturally. I used cooled boiled water and (clean for each eye) cotton wool and wipped his eyes a couple of times a day from inside to outside of his eyes. It can need medical intervention to unblock them if they don't sort themselves out.
