C Section Recovery

Hi

I had DD2 by ELCS 3 weeks ago. The operation went smoothly and the external wound appears to have healed well, but my stomach still feels very tender and sore to touch for about 20cm above the wound all the way along. No visible bruising and absolutely no signs of infection.

Don’t think I’ve been doing too much as I really have just looked after the baby and sat on the sofa.

Is the tenderness normal? I am very aware it is major surgery but keep reading about other people who felt pretty much normal by this point so am starting to wonder if something might be wrong...

Very normal. I felt pretty much back to normal after a couple of weeks but that’s not to say the area wasn’t still sore. And I was also comparing it to my car crash of a first birth so I thought it was a win all round

Thank you ladies, am feeling very reassured by your comments.

I too had an awful first birth that took over a year to recover from so know exactly what you mean about this feeling like a win in comparison.

Will continue to rest up with the little one and enjoy the excuse to avoid the hoovering for a few more weeks at least...
