Sore boob

Hi looking for some advice! I’m breastfeeding dd and one boob is so painful, it’s sore to touch, goes all lumpy and hard when baby is feeding from it and is starting to look a bit red near nipple. Does it sound like a blocked duct? I had mastitis a few weeks ago, symptoms were different. I was aching all over like the flu and boob went really hot and red. Is a blocked duct mastitis? Or are they different? Can this be taken care of at home? I really don’t want more antibiotics as I’ve been on them since baby was born 6 weeks ago for infections in stitches and the mastitis 😫😫

Make an emergency doctors appointment today.
Tell them that it is different to the mastitis you have had before and you need them to look at it.

Sounds like it. I think I had to massage the lump whilst feeding to loosen it/ get it flowing, hot flannel maybe (it's been 8 years so I'm a bit hazy I'm afraid).

Try Googling Kelly Mom or la leche league for advice.

Or do you have a local breastfeeding supper group? Mine is online at the moment but I think they still have a phone number you can call which is manned by volunteers

I think I had this. Felt like it was on fire and so painful. Also felt lumpy. I used warm flannel and massaged lump lots ( found expressing less painful when it happened- baby accepts bottle though). Did not think it was mastitis as no other sign of infection just think for me it was physical trauma ( eg poor latch). If in doubt contact health visitor or GP if infected do get antibiotics.
