Am 3 weeks post partum and feeling miserable, longing for my old life back, exhausted and crying every day. I've talked to my gp and he's put me on antidepressants. I've taken them before and they worked for my depression.

Have they worked for your pnd?

Hi, I'm sorry I don't have equivalent experience but didn't want to read and run, plus I thought I could bump the thread for you.

Sorry you're feeling crappy. Is it your first baby? Three weeks is very early, it is common to find things very tough at the start.

Yes, they worked for me, I wasn't diagnosed until six months postpartum. Glad you've seen your GP already rather than trying to soldier on. Hope you start to feel better soon Flowers

I’m 7 weeks pp with baby 2 & I’ve just been out in antidepressants for pnd, had them for “regular” depression in the past also & they helped a bit so hoping they’ll help with this.

I was a mess at 3 weeks pp with my first though, do you think it’s depression? It’s such a huge upheaval first time around, I don’t see how anyone can be anything but a mess!

Hope you feel more positive soon x

Sertraline massively helped me.
Hope all goes well for you xx

I was put on Sertraline about 6 weeks PP and was on it for a total of about 11 months. It helped me with the utter desperation that I felt in those early weeks by numbing the extreme low mood. I still struggled with bonding with my son and experienced extreme guilt around that, so it didn't work as a miracle cure for my PND but certainly helped me and possibly saved my life.

I really hope antidepressants help you OP. My son is 20 months old now and I can remember those early months being more isolating than anything I had ever experienced.
