Leaking urine post birth

I gave birth 7 weeks ago. The delivery went ok but I spent a long time pushing and had a 2nd degree tear.

I'm having some issues with leaking urine now, mainly noticing it when I get up off the toilet after having a wee and also lifting the car seat.

Last weekend we had sex and I kept leaking urine throughout and also when I came close to orgasm.

I've been doing my pelvic floor exercises when I remember and I will be mentioning to my GP on Wednesday.

I just wondered if anyone has any experience of recovery or words of encouragement as it's getting me down a bit

Please do tell your GP. Don't be fobbed off by any "keep going with the pelvic exercises and come back if it doesn't improve " - insist you need a women's health physio referral. Physio is fantastic. I didn't go this early on post birth to my regret because once I did, it made a huge difference. It may be just doing your exercisea yourself will worn but I know of several friends who were trying and doing them wrong, and for me, I definitely needed more intensive physio.
I'm now symptom free, even having gone back to have no 3 subsequently to the physio.
If physio doesn't work there are surgical options but hopefully if you get seen soon then this won't be an issue.
Probably worth avoiding any jumping running high impact for now too.

I leaked after a c section, well full wetting at times. It was alright after about 6 weeks. I was doubly incontinent during pregnancy as well.
If it persists beyond 6 weeks ask (demand) to see a women’s health physio. Most hospitals have a clinic for these issues I was only told there was a clinic at my local hospital by a horrified doctor that neither the midwives or gp had referred me during pregnancy
