C section

I had a c section ten days ago (my second one) and today had my dressing taken off. The midwife said one side had healed perfectly but the other not so well but that it was fine. She said there was no sign of infection, no redness or swelling etc. I've just had a little look and there seems to be a small amount of white puss on the side that's not healed great. It's only a small amount and there's no redness or swelling. Just wanting advice, does this seem normal? There's no yellow or anything like that and I'm wondering if it's just part of the healing process or if it sounds like an infection? I'd phone my surgery but it's a weekend now and not sure what to do. Thanks in advance

You poor thing. Firstly, don't worry. Clean it nicely, dry it, and if you think it needs it, put a fresh dressing on that area. (Do you have any Mepore dressings or anything like that?)

I had a bit of a similar thing and it was fine. It just needed a bit of extra care and attention and took longer to heal than the other side. Flowers

I had something similar with mine, went to the GP, treated with a special dressing and all sorted. Always worth getting checked out but it won't be anything to worry about!

Thank you for the comment☺️ been in a panic lol so it's reassuring to know yours turned out to be fine. And I haven't, do you think that's something I could pick up from my pharmacy maybe?

Right special dressing seems to be the solution then! Thank you

I'm 2.5 weeks after my 2nd section (1st healed beautifully). MW checked it at Day 13 or 14 and it hadn't quite healed one side, she said clean & properly dry is most important. So I am showering daily then airing (lying flat on back on bed) then cleaning with cooked boiled water and cotton wool another couple of times per day and doing the same. It is so much better now, still a small gap but no more ooze and definitely healing now.

*cooled not cooked Grin

Georgieeb · 26/06/2020 20:33

Thanks for the comment @cazinge I'm going to give that a try! Did you have some puss sort of stuff as well then?

Yep like a clear ooze, not yellow so MW said no infection and it was a little red around the scar but not hot or anything. The redness has reduced and hardly any ooze now. It's a good excuse to lie on the bed and escape from your older child(ren) Blush

@cazinge already been thinking what a lovely excuse to have half an hour to myself 😂! And mines sort of a white colour, but there's no yellow or anything so hoping I'm good🤞🏻

Yes, fingers crossed yours is ok. It is honestly bliss, I watch an episode of something on Netflix to drown out the carnage downstairs Grin

I do take the baby with me though
