11 weeks postpartum - persistent cramps

Im 11 weeks and exclusively breastfeeding. About 5 weeks postpartum I noticed period like cramping, particularly at night and seemed to have (TMI!) slight greenish discharge with no smell. I freaked out thinking it was an infection and gp just gave antibiotics.

Dischage stopped but cramps continued. At 8 weeks pp had a swab check and it came back clear.

Now I'm 11 weeks and I'm STILL getting period cramping at night. Has anyone else had this??? It seems to be every night. A few weeks ago I had light spotting for a few days and assumes that was a weird first period. But now I'm spotting again yesterday and it's stopped again.

Is this normal as I'm exclusively breastfeeding? I'm panicking thinking I've got cancer or something ridiculous now! Thinking I'm gonna have to call my gp but can only imagine the next step is a scan and will they even offer it with all this covid stuff going on?

Hi @Loukifre
I know this is an old post but did it anything come of this for you? Having the exact same thing 8 weeks post partum. Thanks 😊

@Firefly18 yes! So it wasn’t anything really. Ive come to the conclusion it was just my hormones going crazy after birth and with the breastfeeding. They did settle down and the discharge stopped after I had my first period. But everything did ramp up even more - I had night sweats and chills and bouts of insomnia. Pretty much like fake menopausal symptoms, which again makes sense as it was hormone related.

Ive recently had my second child and the exact same things happened again. I didn’t stress this time as I knew everything would go back to normal and it has.

I hope this helps!
