Breast abscess - pain relief

Hi, following a second bout of mastitis I’ve been diagnosed with a breast abscess. It was aspirated and it’s now looking very swollen and I’m guessing it’s going to need to be aspirated again in my follow up appointment this Thursday.

The pain is almost as if someone is stabbing my boob with a red hot iron poke 😩 paracetamol isn’t touching the sides and it’s so difficult trying to look after my baby as any pressure or weight on it puts me in agony. Is there any old wives tales/helpful hints anyone has to try and relieve the pain until my appointment on Thursday (where I’ll be begging for relief!). I’m in my third week of agony and getting desperate for any type of relief from the pain.

Sorry you’re going through this, the same happened to me after my first child and I had to have it aspirated a few times a week for a month. I can still remember the agony and I pretty much spent the month topless unless I had to go out. I was told to take paracetamol and ibuprofen together, at the maximum doses for each.

Thank you @redapplegreenapple I’m going to give the ibuprofen a go as well and see if it improves. After some more sleep this morning and some more antibiotics it feels slightly better (without wanting to tempt fate!). I’m wearing a really lose bra so there is less contact and pain on the area as well. Ergh the things us women have to go through!
