Milk bleb... I think...

My DS is almost 6 months old. Had quite a few difficult weeks of breastfeeding in the beginning but we found our groove and have had no issues for the last 2/3 months. During the feeds today I thought he had bitten my nipple a couple of times as I had a quick sharp pain. It still hurt so I had a look and I have what looks like a yellow head on my nipple. Lots of googleing and I think it’s a milk bleb. Has anyone had one of these? How did you get rid of it? Does this mean I have mastitis or potentially will get it? Is it worth going to the doctors for?

Hot shower with lots of massaging and hopefully it'll pop. I got a recurring one that I used to squeeze like a spot and it would release that way

Did it hurt? Were you able to breastfeed once you popped it or did it hurt?

I got them a lot with ds (undiagnosed posterior tongue tie) and had lots of blocked ducts but never mastitis luckily. Lactation consultant recommended lecithin to think the milk strands when they were numerous and that really helped. There was lots of info on kellymom.com if I recall. Hope you get sorted.

Sounds like a bleb.

Sunflower Lecithin really helped me too. As did sitting baby up to feed, I found his latch wasn't so good lying down as he got bigger.

It should feel instantly better once it pops.

No it was fine once it popped. Has yours gone yet?

Nope, still here!! Hurts sometimes when he latched on like a spot would hurt if you touched it. I tried the hot bath and scraping it. I tried sticking a pin in it 🙈(note: sticking pins in your nipple hurts). It’s on the bottom of my nipple and my breast is now slightly tender so might be getting worse.
