Hi all,

Has anyone been treated for retained products after birth? I'm having a d&c to get rid of a 10cm "something" that was left behind after I had my baby. I've tried googling but can only see it happening as a result of miscarriage or abortion.
WTH they left behind?

It’s often part of the placenta if it didn’t all come away intact. That’s what happened to me

Usually it’s passed on it’s own, but sometimes it needs to be taken out

I was left with some 'retained product' which is what the doctor referred to the placenta as - or what was left of it! I bled non stop for 11 weeks, heavy too. Although mine eventually sorted itself out without the need for assistance, so I'm afraid I cannot relate.
