Headache

My baby is 10days old and I've had a headache for 4 days. I had a c section so taking regular pain relief anyway although my head is now the cause of me needing the pain relief! It doesn't seem to go away even after I've had paracetamol and ibuprofen. I thought it was because I've been stressed with the baby's dad but after 4 days I'm not sure if it's something else.
Can anyone relate or have advice? I did mention to midwife at 2 days and she said she thought it was a tension headache.

I would get yourself checked out asap call labour or postnatal ward as it could be post partum pre eclampsia. Not to scare you but i had this and had a banging headache and needed blood pressure medication for six weeks to sort it out. Or call 111 and they can get a doctor to call you and if deemed necessary they can send you to an urgent care doctor in a surgery to check your blood pressure ans urine etc.

Does it go away if you lie down? If it doesn’t go away with normal pain relic get in touch with Gp tomorrow.

I had this and it turned out my blood pressure had gone too high. They were also concerned about the spinal medication I got but ruled it out.

Either way defo get it checked. Hopefully it's just tiredness but just in case do get your bp checked or ring your midwife.

If it goes away when you lie down it's likely a postdural puncture headache. If plenty of fluids don't work, get it checked out with your midwife Smile

I had my bp checked by the midwife on day 2 of headache.
I wonder if the headache could be caused by fragmin injections? I had to do them myself in the evenings for 9 days. I have finished them now and didn't have one last night and noticed my headache isn't as bad this morning although it is still there.
I'll see how I am today and I have the health visitor coming today so will mention to her.
Thanks for your responses.

Just to update I went to the doctors yesterday. There is nothing wrong with me but the headache continues. Day 8 now Hmm must be a stress /tension thing

I'm glad to hear all is well.

Don't underestimate a tiredness headache, try and drink water frequently and have plenty of snacks.

I hope you are enjoying your new baby, it can be very very very hard xx

I had this with my second, so annoying when you're trying to rest and enjoy things. I called triage in the end but they thought it was tension headache, I think it was too many days since the birth to be blood pressure. It went in the end, I figured it was probably the hormones. Hope you feel better soon, you can always call triage if you're worried it's what they're there for.

Oh sorry just read you've been to see dr. That's good, hopefully will be gone soon !

Delbelleber · 30/05/2020 12:18

I think it's been down to stress. I've been really stressed with my situation with the baby's dad. Still experiencing the headache but atleast I know it's not a physical problem with me. Thanks for replies.

I had post natal migraines for months until my hormones settled down after having ds, took about 6 months for them to stop.
