Bleeding heavy after 6 weeks

Hi all. I'm 6 weeks postpartum and my bleeding has been slowing down and getting lighter as expected.

However yesterday I had terrible cramps and then this morning my bleeding has become quite heavy again. Could this be me having a period? Also would I be okay to use a tampon at this stage or should I wait until I have my 6 week check (it's been postponed for two weeks by my doctor)

Thanks in advance Smile

It does sound like it could be a period. Is everything ok? Usual colour? No temperature?

Is there a reason that you're worried about tampons? Did you have an episiotomy or tearing?

Yes everything is normal it's just very heavy! I'm still using maternity pads atm and having to change every hour or so and there are a few clots not massive ones though.

I actually had a c section but was told you can't use tampons for a while after because of risk of infection? I think you usually wait for the doctor to say it's all okay (that's just what I've read - I'm a first time mum!)

I’m also saving a period six weeks post section - and I’m ebf so thought it shouldn’t happen!

Sorry Livid, that's rotten. My DF BF 4 and the longest she went without AF after having them was 8 weeks I think.
