How long did it take you to get back to where you were before? And how did you exercise?

Lockdown really isn't helping me with this!

It took me a year. I weighed myself 1 month after the baby was born and had 2 stone to lose. I lost the first stone gradually and slowly over 9 months or so and then stepped it up and went on a diet to lose the last stone as I was returning to work and my smart clothes didn't fit! By the time the baby's first birthday came around I was my pre pregnancy weight and felt much better. Go easy on yourself as it can take a while.

9 months. Didn't change my terrible diet till about 7 months. Did a couple of exercise classes a week plus lots of walking with the pushchair

About 9 months too. Lots of walking with the pushchair for me too. It helped that we lived in a fairly hilly area.

Don't think I sorted my diet out for well over 6 months either.

I'm 4 months in and have lost nothing. Really frustrated and down so have started ww.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 23/04/2020 16:42

Four months is such a short time India I really wouldn’t worry. Have you tried adding in a bit of exercise along with the WW?

SuddenArborealStop · 23/04/2020 16:49

I tried at a few weeks cos literally nothing fit but I can't lose weight while breastfeeding so gave up and bought bigger clothes. The bigger clothes are getting tight Shock and I've stopped breastfeeding so I'll try again now she's three months but it will be slow especially with things as they are I'm not cutting out all treats as they're all that's keeping me sane! I walk every day and do a short low intensity workout to build up my core again before I try higher impact later on.
You have to be kind to yourself when they're so small, take it slow and easy.

2 pregnancies in under 3 years and I weighed 4 stone more than pre babies. It was a sobering moment seeing that figure on the scales. With ww and exercise 4 times a week, I hope to have it shifted in 6 months from starting so ds2 will be 1.

With DC1 it took about a year. I seemed to get stuck with a couple of extra lbs around my hips until I stopped breastfeeding at 8 months. Was so much easier after I stopped but could be coincidence with when I went back to work and had less time to eat.

This time round at 5 months I was stuck at about 20lbs heavier (I put on A LOT of weight). Have had to start calorie counting to make any inroad which I have never had to do before but also finding it helpful to ensure I’m not going overboard as I’m still breast feeding.

Working out 5-6 times a week, mainly Joe Wicks, but very sedentary other than that, as I’m sure many of us are at the moment!

13 months and I am still 10lb heavier than I was, I have lost a lot but it is really hard to shift this 10lb. I have tried everything but nothing seems to be working!

I had 5kg to lose to get back to pre-baby weight and had lost in all by 4 months postpartum. I was really adamant I wanted it gone so from 6 weeks after baby was born I started. I tracked everything I ate on my fitness pal and stuck to 1200 calories a day (app calculated what I should stick to). I also walked with baby and I did 30 mins cardio and 20 mins Pilates every morning as soon as I out baby down for first nap (YouTube tutorials).

The diet was the best way to lose it IMO and Pilates helped get my tummy back to normal by the 4 month mark and I found 20 mins a day manageable.

About a year, a bit less maybe. A DandV bug helped me along a bit at the end Grin I lost quite a lot to start with, around 3kg until I stopped breastfeeding, then I plateaued for a while. Losing the last 3 was a bit harder. No major exercise routine though, just a lot of walking with the pram. If I’d been more motivated to go for a run I probably would have lost the weight more quickly.

First baby I was thinner than I was before I got pregnant by 8 months pp. Ate whatever I wanted and did no exercise except walking with buggy daily, plus breastfeeding a hungry baby.

Currently 6 weeks pp with second and hoping for the same this time round, although I definitely put on more than the first time.

Don't stress - your body has gone through a huge thing and you'll get there. If you feel like exercising do it, and just eat a balanced diet!
