Bleeding 3 weeks after giving birth

I wonder if anyone could advise - I had my baby by emergency c-section almost three and a half weeks ago. My bleeding had reached the point of becoming a really light pink. Then two days ago I got up and suddenly it's red again and whilst not heavy enough to be soaking pads, there's definitely more than there was and after lying down I do get that drip into the toilet when I go like I did at the start. I also feel like a mild cramping but I'm not sure if I'm just feeling this because I'm overthinking it. Is this normal or something I should be worried about??

Quite normal. I've had two sections and the bleeding didn't fully stop til six weeks although there would be days without anything. As long as it's a normal colour and smell you'll be fine.

I didn't have a section but I start-stop bled for about 8 weeks after both births. As long as colour/smell is healthy and your not soaking through a pad an hour or having feverish symptoms, chances are you're fine.

Mine came and went for weeks and weeks.

Yes this happened to me. Freaked me out! After my vaginal birth the bleeding just tapered out but after my c section it stop-started for 6 weeks and some days was so heavy I was genuinely concerned. My midwife told me it was all normal though as long as I wasn't filling a pad or more an hour and as long as there was no foul smell or temperature. It did ease off at about 6 weeks....in time for my first period at 8 weeks. Joyful.

Yep this happened with me, came and went for a bit. If you feel ok and it’s not soaking a pad very quickly then it’s quite normal. After my first section I bleed quite a bit but after my second there doesn’t seem to be so much so I think it can differ with sections too depending on how much they cleaned up during it

I bled for 10 weeks after having my twins by emergency CS

Cramping is normal as it’s your uterus returning to normal size. Particularly common to get cramping when breast feeding or holding your baby, as oxytocin is involved

Completely normal and a pp said common to get gushes after breastfeeding as the uterus contracts.

That's really helpful everyone, thank you!! It did freak me out but hearing it's happened to so many others is reassuring!!

I had this after each baby, bleeding stopped about 2-3 weeks postnatally then between weeks 3-4 I had what seemed like a period and then back to usual cycle from the month after that. Breastfeeding or formula feeding made no difference.
