Copper coil

I'm 5 weeks PP and I'm planning on discussing getting the IUD copper coil at my 6 week appointment - can anyone take me through the process? A friend of mine had to go on a pill for a week because she hadn't been on it for a while, then had an examination then had the coil and had a few checks afterwards but she wasn't PP.

Just wondering the time frame, amount of appointments and whether I can take DS to the appointments!

I had mine fitted at my six week check up. I told my doc there and then that I wanted it, we discussed it, and half an hour later it was done. He asked me to go back 4 weeks later to have it checked (I guess to see if it had moved??) and then that was it.

A year later, I decided I wanted it out and within five mins of going into my appointment, it was done.
