Hi! I am 6 weeks pp, doctor has prescribed me the combined pill, am I protected straight away? Or do I have to wait a week? I totally forgot to check for whilst bf.

As you arent starting it on the 1st day of your period then you would need to take precautions for 1 week of pill taking. Keep an eye on your milk supply as the combined pill can reduce it. Mini pills are often prescribed during breastfeeding instead

Okies thank you! I’ve spoken to three different docs, apparently it doesn’t actually affect milk supply but will keep an eye on it

It didnt used to be prescribed until 6 months if bf and it's only relatively recently that it changed to 6 weeks. Something to look out for anyway
