First period after birth

Hi, I had my son 10 weeks ago. At 7 weeks I went onto the pill dianette, which I’m still taking. I got my first period 4 weeks ago. The first week was dark brown blood and the last 3 weeks have been bright red blood, I need to change a large night pad every couple of hours and there has been occasional clots the past week.
My question is- does this sound normal? And how long can I be expecting this to last? I’m getting fed up now!!

I don't think this sounds normal but I'm not sure. Can you ring your doctor?

I could do, I just wasn’t sure if this was normal. If so I didn’t want to waste GPs time. I was expecting a heavier, longer period than before but this just seems to be never ending and it’s so draining!

I just don't know. My boy is almost six months and I've not had anything yet. Are you breastfeeding?

Just thought I’d check first but if no one else has said and I am started to get concerned. I breastfed until 6 weeks when my milk dried up and that’s when I started bleeding and it’s just not stopped! Will give them a ring in morning x

I didn't experience anything like this with my first (still haven't had my first period with my second!) so I think you're best getting checked out.

Not related to the bleeding, but I didn't think they gave dianette as a contraceptive these days, unless I'm getting my pills muddled up.

They don’t usually but I’ve always had bad spots and I was on it for a few years previously and it worked fine as a contraceptive for me so I asked for it x

I'm experiencing something very similar, my baby is 9 weeks old, been bleeding on and off for 3 weeks now, started with spotting for two weeks that varied from brown, red and pink, this last week has been heavier red bleeding. I'm not on any pill and have been combination feeding but have mostly stopped breastfeeding now as don't have a good supply.

Well I’ve not been able to get an appointment with GP so have no idea what’s happening, still bleeding heavily and started having pains but not like period cramps just occasional sharp pains. Hoping I get into doctors Monday! Thought it could be the pill but not sure if you’re experiencing similar and not on pill!

Same, bleeding stops and starts, going from heavy to light and back again. I've had a letter saying smear is due, but they won't give me one for a few more weeks yet. Also am terribly bloated, very worried about what's going on
