Postpartum bleeding AND period? >:-(

I'm 3 weeks pp and suddenly this stupid bleeding, which i hate cos i can't shove a cup up there, has got redder, and slightly heavier. Up until now it's been getting lighter mostly and pinkish. Now it feels like it's flowing more and darker.

I can't believe this. I already posted here moaning about how long this crap was going to last and now it's getting heavier!

I know lochia can get heavier after more activity but i don't think i have done any more activity than usual. I had 2 days where i did nothing but express milk (no bf...) And then went out for a 5 min walk to the PO and then we went to Tesco just to pick up a couple of items so want exactly walking around there get much.

So grr! 3 weeks does seem rather early for my period to return though. So I'm kinda hoping it's something else? I've been managing the pp bleeding with period pants. If i have to wear an actual pad ugh. (Huge issue with pads, they ruin my day... I normally wear cups/tampons. Pads make me feel like tearing my skin off.. So gross.)

Mostly just grumbling... But is it normal to get period just 3 weeks after giving birth (via csec)?

If the blood has suddenly increased I think you need to contact someone, especially as you have had a section.

Yes, i s going to phone hv/gp to be on safe side. I will probably be going is a period rather than infection. Annoying.

Did you get any answers as having similar thing myself 5 well pp c

She said it could be a period. Thigh i forgot to mention i had a csec! Would assume she checked my notes though...

However it seems to have died down today to practically nil but we will see.

So i have no idea what's going on.

They probably dont realise you have had a section. That sort of information isn't necessarily passed on.

fonxey · 15/01/2020 06:51

Yeah. Quite possibly. The surgery and hospital use the same electronic system you'd think it'd be easy to read the notes. Probably around have to do a bit of digging though tbh.

Anyway, didn't really bleed at all yesterday, didn't even bother wearing any protection. Bit weird. Suspicious it will start flowing randomly and heavily just when i think it's gone away. I know bleeding can last for 6 weeks...

I had this, and I was exclusively breastfeeding so I was told by many health professionals I shouldn't have my period but my GP said it was normal. I bled for 12 weeks, they had arranged a scan for me to make sure I didn't have any retained placenta but I'd stopped bleeding before the scan date
