Pelvic floor

Hello, how long after birth until you can feel pelvic floor enough to know you’re doing exercises!?
I gave birth 3 weeks ago and had an episiotomy and a 2nd degree tear.
Since then I can’t feel my pelvic floor. I don’t get an urge to wee but go to the bathroom regularly and am able to wee. But I have no feeling of the muscles along my pelvic floor both near where I wee or in my bum 🙈
Is this normal for 3 weeks!? I’m a first time mum.
Thanks

Its important that you keep up with doing your squeezes. I think it would be advisable to ask your gp or midwife to refer you to postnatal gynae to make sure your pelvic floor recovers properly. These do exist and there is support. I wouldnt ignore it

Have you discussed with your midwife/health visitor?
I suffered a 3rd degree tear (my second one) and the midwife spoke to me about doing my pelvic floor exercises and asked if I had the sensation of needing to wee or not. Although as its my second time I may have brought up the topic as I obviously know what is expected.

I'm not sure what is and isn't normal, but I had the sensation of needing the toilet within a day or 2 and within 7-10 days I was able to start my pelvic floor exercises.
Having had a severe tear I am automatically referred to physio at 6 weeks pp but I would recommend speaking to your gp or HV and asking for a referral. I wouldn't wait until your 6 week gp check as there may be a waiting list.
The physio will be really helpful and should be able to assist in identifying any issues and also regaining to sensations you need so that you can make progress.
I'm sure the sensation will return, your body has been through a lot and it takes time.
