retained placenta

Interested in hearing how others healed, when bleeding stopped and if this happened with any future pregnancy's?

I'm 12 days postpartum. Had a lovely vaginal birth. Really wouldn't change any part of it. Just the placenta having to be manually removed wasn't great.

Also, I've been told to watch out for clots as this could mean I've still got placenta remaining. What's the difference between w clot and a piece of placenta?

This happened to me, they said my ds was quite big and not much fluid, so he managed to squash my placenta against the womb wall.
45 mins fot him to appear and over 3 hours of the trying to get the placenta out. Told me to save any clots, which I did for the midwife, only for her to say yes that's fine now flush it away.
I'm guessing from what I saw of mine and what was said, that clots were just the same as a bit of placenta.
If you are loosing a lot of clots tho I would speak to someone, you could give the maternity unit a ring.

If you rub a clot between kitchen roll.it will break up, a piece of placenta won't tend to break up and will look more like a piece of uncooked steak. You also need to watch out if your bleeding suddenly increases or becomes offensive smelling.
