Breastfeeding back pain

My baby is only 9 days old. I'm guessing the pain is from bad positioning while feeding. Any tips on anything I can do to help the pain?

Ouch! Can you deploy many many pillows and prop yourself? If you health and finances are up to it I would recommend a session with a women's health physio, one's who offer 'Mummy MOT' are worth searching out. Taking your baby with you wouldn't be an issue and they would be fine with feeding during treatment.

Thank you. I think that would be a good idea and Money well spent

I used a feeding pillow shaped like a horseshoe with all my dc when breastfeeding. It meant I wasn't hunched over and could prop my back from behind too. DH used it to give bottles sometimes too.

Give feeding lying down a go it saved my back having that as an option. I self referred for physio with a form from my gp reception and doing gentle exercises from them for my core and glutes helped so much with the back pain.

Thank you. I've got a feeding pillow. And I'll call my gp tomorrow as I think physio would help

Fab, all the best getting it sorted. Ibuprofen gel might help short term. Double check that it's compatible with feeding (I think it is) by going on the Breastfeeding Network website, they will have a factsheet on it, and many many other drugs too.
