Postpartum periods not returning to normal?

My LB is 10 months old and my period returned 8 weeks post partum however they aren’t like they were before

They’re very heavy (at the beginning and more than before) and longer

But what’s concerning me more is that the length between them is varying massively month to month

I used to be exactly 28 days like clockwork

Now it’s anything from 30 to currently 36 days (I’m still waiting for this month)

I suppose my question is (before I go to the Dr), does it take a while for things to settle into a bit more of a pattern and how long it took other people to return to normal?

Yes it can take a while for things to settle down and sometimes birth changes our periods. As an example, after DD2 my periods are longer (in days while on my period and cycle length) but after DD1 they were so much heavier.

They can change, but after 8 months it might be worth making an appointment - I'm guessing you didn't breastfeed, but that messes them up a lot, I didn't have one until 11 months pp

I did breastfeed for 8 weeks but I’ve actually just found out I’m 10 weeks pregnant even though I’ve had a period in that time Confused
