My little boy is nearly 6 months old. For the last 6 weeks I’ve had trouble sleeping. He sleeps fantastic but all of a sudden I’m sleeping terrible. Any advice? I have been to the doctors and they prescribed me some sleeping tablets which I am reluctant to take. I really don’t know why all of a sudden I can’t sleep and wondered if anyone else experienced the same thing after having a baby? I don’t think it would be linked to hormones so long after birth?

Oh you must be shattered Sad. Insomnia can be caused by quite a number of things really - the lighter evenings for one, or if you're worried or anxious, or napping during the day, or drinking too much coffee! Has anything changed recently that you're aware of?

No nothing! It’s driving me crazy. I’ve taken the sleeping tablets twice. When I’ve been desperate and I know my husbands not at work so he can see to our baby if he wakes in the night. I think I’d feel better if I knew the reason why!

Me!!! Plus waking through the night randomly. Baby is in cot beside me at night so no need to get up and check and baby sleeps right through from the evening time.

It's horrible though the not sleeping. Then getting up early in the morning.

I think it's something to do with the lighter evenings/mornings....

Yeah my baby is still in the cot at the side of me. It takes me ages to get to sleep and I wake all the time. At least it’s not just me! Doctor just said sometimes your body clock can just go off but it’s so annoying. My little boy had started waking at 5 the last week as well, feels like as soon as I finally get to sleep it’s time to get up!
