Cycle / period changes after having a baby?

I gave birth to my daughter (she was stillborn at full term) in Feb. My cycles before getting pregnant were very regular, usually 32 days but since having baby are somewhat irregular.

PP bleeding had stopped after about 3 weeks and I had first period within 4 weeks. It was a heavy and long first period and was a 34 day cycle but I thought I’d go back to “normal” given period started soon after birth. Second cycle was 26 days. This cycle I’m on CD30 and on my fourth day of spotting but I assume it will turn into af as it did last month.

Last month I started with spotting on CD24 and I actually thought I might be pregnant and maybe it was IB (because i don’t recall ever having had such a short cycle) but it turned into (shorter than usual) af on CD26.

I just wondered whether anyone else has experienced this. It has been less than four months since I had my daughter so it’s still “early days” but should I be speaking to GP about this?

I am now TTC again which doctor said is fine but I didn’t talk to them about my cycle being irregular.

TIA

Hi hunnie,

So sorry for your loss😢
I lost my baby at 20 weeks before having my daughter but just recently had a miscarriage...it’s been 39 days now since my period last was.
It takes a massive strain on your body.
In time they will go into a normal pattern, these things take a while.

Big hugs to you xx

Thanks Newbie

I’m so sorry for your losses too.

Maybe I do just need to allow my body more time to settle but because of what’s happened I’m just worrying something might be wrong.

Thanks for your reply. Hugs to you too xx

If you wanted to talk to your gp you have every right todo so.
I had my missed miscarriage in January and everything’s still all over the place right down to ovulation.
Your body resets itself when this has happened, Please don’t worry. It’s hard not to I’m know but your body and you have gone through a lot.

Xxx

I’m so, so sorry for your loss and can’t imagine what you are
Going through Flowers

It took around 5 months (my 5th period after they returned) for my cycle to return to being regular. Before that they were a bit all over the place. Im hope that brings some
comfort, and I’m sure it’s just your body settling back into things and there is nothing wrong. But certainly go and see your GP if you are worried.

Wishing you all the luck in the world.

Thanks both. I’ll see how I get on this month and then speak to the GP if necessary xx

My bleeding seems more af-life today so I think it was just light af (getting heavier) and not “spotting” as such because also I had v bad PMT the day before and it went away when the “spotting” started
