6 week check??

What's meant to happen at this? I called my gp surgery to book one for me and they said the one booked for my baby was sufficient. Do I actually need one??

More info: had severe spd during pregnancy and still feeling it to some extent. Had forceps delivery with episiotomy which has healed as well as can be expected.

I'm assuming that the 6 week check would be with the gp, not the consultant (I had quite a bit of consultant but involvement especially towards the end for reduced growth velocity).
