When to start exercising after c section?

I'm very out of shape, three stone to lose and had my second baby by c section three weeks ago. I would like to get a personal trainer who trains post natal women to start me off on getting into some home based training exercises. I was wondering when is an appropriate time to start? Has anyone done similar after c sections?

Most people say about 10-12 weeks post c section and certainly not until after your 6 week check up. If you're after PT it would certainly be worth contacting some local ones to see what experience they have. Also have a look at things you can do with baby like buggy fit, bring your baby classes, mum and baby yoga etc as that may help you to fit it in. I'm 8 months post c section and have found the sweat with kayla app very good as I can do it whenever i have time. Be gentle with yourself as I found if I over did it in the first few months then I would get that horrible tight feeling around my scar

Thanks. I remember with my first caesarean I tried to go to a yoga class after three months and the teacher said to go away and come back in another couple of months. So I'm wondering if I can train even at that point.

Exercising to lose weight doesn't have to be really vigorous. Try to get walking each day, for at least an hour and really assess your diet.

Its food that will have the biggest impact on weight loss, not excersice alone....are you snacking, boozing, relying on high calorie 'easy' meals etc? Focus on cleaning up your diet a bit and getting some serious steps in...then in few weeks/months you'll be in a great position to start exercising harder post c section.

Don't say sod it and wait until you have recovered from the c section, start now with little changes.

Good idea thank you. I was going to wait til better but think it will take several more months with two children now. I'm snacking and comfort eating for sure!
