Cold sore-calm me down!!

I had a feeling it would happen, and it has!!
I am prone to cold sores when I am overly tired/run down. We had a few complications after birth so ended up staying in hospital for 5 days.
Yesterday was our first full day at home. I had DD in her sling for a lot of it, so quite close to me.

Anyway, late afternoon I started to feel the "tingle". So far it's still absolutely tiny. I'm using Zovirax, im away to nip out for the little covers you can get for them and I'm washing my hands/using alcohol rub really regularly and not touching my face/kissing baby etc.
She's EBF really well.

I'm still just so so anxious though. Anyone else been in a similar position?

Really don't worry. There was a very good article about the Herpes virus on Weekend Woman's Hour. It might be worth listening to it on BBC Sounds.

Congratulations on your LO too Thanks

Try not to worry! Keep doing what you are doing and avoid kisses on her face until it has disappeared. Hard to do right now as a newborn!!

I get cold sores and recommend L-Lysine (you can get from Holland Barrett). I take when I get the tingle and find it often stops it.

I have 3 children none have contracted cold sores.

Sorry posted to quick. As others say avoid kisses on face. Wash hands. Keep cold sore covered if you can.

She will be fine. You will be passing antibodies to her in breast milk. Just avoid kissing her till sore has gone.
