Shaving and sex after episiotomy?

Had my son 3 weeks ago today and I had a forceps delivery and episiotomy.

I was just wondering how long I should wait before shaving and how long I should wait to have sex?
I feel fully healed down there and I'm desperate to shave😩 not so desperate to have sex yet lol.

Any advice? Thanks x

I had the exact same as u de delivery and I’m 7 weeks pp, not had sex just yet, but I have shaved down there, I waited till about 4/5 weeks and was fine to shave then. I have an 8 weeks checkup on Monday with my LB so will speak to doc about going back on the pill, haven’t had a period yet but not sure when it will come.

In regards to both: when it’s comfortable and you want to. If you don’t want
to, then wait until you do. If you start and it becomes uncomfortable, then stop and try again in a few days/weeks/whenever.

I've been advised by midwives that for a normal vaginal delivery, you should wait until you have completely stopped bleeding before having sex or inserting anything into your vagina.

If you have had stitches they need to be completely healed.
Do you have a 6 week post-partum checkup? It's standard in Australia, not sure about where you are.
But if you feel healed, go see a GP and get everything checked out to get the all clear. You may be healed externally but there can be more scarring and tears to heal internally.
You will also need to arrange for contraception. Exclusively breastfeeding, contrary to popular belief, does not guarantee you're safe from pregnancy again.
