Discharge after having baby

I had my baby 4 weeks ago and the blood (locia) has now stopped but I have been getting yellow white discharge everyday, when is this likely to stop? And is this normal?

It's normal Smile

In my experience I had this until about 8 weeks. If you're worried though you should see the GP as you can get an infection which they can take a swab and send off for confirmation. X

Thanks @lunanightsky I’m glad to know this is normal, it’s my first baby so all this is pretty new to me, is it normal to still feel numb in ur vagina area ( I also feel numb in bum sometimes too) I had an epiostomy with forceps and wondered when the numbness will wear off.

Hi @pickles31 I experienced the discharge but I did go to the GP as I had a uterine infection two days after birth so wondered if anything was lingering. It was my first baby too and all of the online information says it will last for up to six weeks but everyone is different. I think if you are still feeling numb down there too it will be due episiotomy and the skin healing back together. I didn’t have this but I had a second degree tear and it took around 8 weeks for things to start feeling anywhere near normal down there again. With both I would just get it checked with the gp and it will give you piece of mind xx

Congratulations Smile xxx

@lunanightsky thank you :) hopefully the numbness will go in a few weeks then, i felt awful for the first two weeks after having my little boy pain wise and worried it would take forever to heal and not be painful so was relieved when I started to feel better from week 3. Yes i had a 2nd degree tear too up inside along with the epiostomy cut, found it difficult to sit down or get comfortable but glad to report I can now sit without pain :) got the hideous haemeroids too which make my butt feel a bit numb and weird too but hopefully that will wear off soon. Thanks for replying and have a nice Xmas Smile
