I’m FTM to a gorgeous 6 day old girl. EBF and I’ve come up with a cold. Can I pass it on to her? Was just changing her and my nose dripped on her little leg!! I am washing my hands as much as possible but obviously can’t not hold her, feed, etc. Anything else I can or should do? Xx

It's a cold. She will get loads, good for the immune system.

Congratulations, enjoy your tiny little baby Thanks

Thank you. Oh I feel awful! What signs should I look for? Is six days too young for a cold? She seems bright and feeding well so far, OH hasn’t gotten it either. xx

Hi. I had loads of colds while feeding my second dd. I was very run down. She never got any. When your sick your body produces antibodies to fight it so these are all passed onto the baby. Also read before that when a baby is sick our bodies can tell from their saliva at the nipple and that the composition of the breast milk changes ensuring more antibodies get to baby (or something like that!..not sure how true that is).

She will get all your antibodies through your milk so is unlikely to catch it. Get well soon.
