Hi my baby is 9 days old and I’ve been feeling a bit weird the past few days like anxious and worrying if I will be ok on my own when hubby is out working but I have been fine: I do keep getting moments tho whew I feel teary for no reason, did anyone else feel like this early on? I just worry it might turn into pnd as have suffered depression in the past. Any reassurance? Midwife coming tomorow so will speak to her about it as not sure if just sleep deprived etc

It sounds fairly normal (at least I felt like that) but definitely speak to your midwife tomorrow and don't worry about seeking medical help if you need it. Your GP, midwife, hv etc would much rather see you even if it's just for reassurance than not see you and things get worse.

For me I'm now 6 weeks pp and feel much better. It does get better

@littlebelina did I have baby blues days too? Yeh it’s weird cos I dunno if I’m just a bit sleep deprived but I do feel different in myself mood wise, my health visitor is also visiting on Friday so I might mention to her too, we haven’t ventured out yet as I have a epiostomy so still a bit sore but not sure if I just need to get out the house too. Just hoping it passes and I don’t get worse.

More periods than days but definitely felt down. Esp on days I couldn't get out. Had a section so was stuck in a bit. Found going out, even if it was just to the shops was a big help

Pickles31 · 28/11/2018 22:11

@littlebelina yes I had an epiostomy and 2nd degree tear so been in a lot of pain but getting better, not been out since we got home last Wednesday so wonder if I just need to get out into the fresh air too, might have another duvet day tomorow after midwife has been and then Friday if I’m not too sore we might venture out in the pram. Yeh I just don’t really feel myself at the mo.

I defnately felt more anxious after my first birth (and I’m not normally). I found getting out for short trips to the shop or a slow walk/lunch helped. Lack of sleep and worry can really affect your mood. Also I cried for seemingly no reason for about a week - some people said it was hormones. It does get better.

@sparky888 thank you, I have the midwife coming today so I might mention it to her. I’ve also woken up today and I’m bleeding like a normal period is that normal after 10 days of giving birth?

I would be completely open with the midwife, they hopefully have a lot of experience and can help you sort out what’s ‘normal’ and how long things might last.
Re: bleeding, with my first birth The bleeding was really heavy, then on and off, i’d it was finished then a few days later I’d bleed again. I think it can last 6 weeks or perhaps longer. The midwife will know more about this. Hope today goes a little better for you.

Littlebelina · 29/11/2018 17:20

Hope it went well today with the midwife. Think the weather is supposed to be better tomorrow so hope you can get out.

Once you feel up to it baby groups etc are a good excuse to get out. Libraries often run sessions as well. Some cinema chains run special baby sessions.

I had heavyish bleeding on and off for 2 weeks. Still get occasional brown blood now at 6 weeks.

@littlebelina thanks for ur msg, yes doc just phoned me and has prescribed some antibiotics so can pick them up tomorrow Smile midwife thought was healing ok but stiches look a bit swollen still so she said I mite need some antibiotics, hopefully they will help. Yes I’ve been looking at baby sensory classes for the new year and will defo makes sure I get out when I can, I think it’s just all being new to me the mummy stuff and feeling like Groundhog Day in the house too. I have a lot of support round me so hopefully I will be ok, just don’t like not feeling myself that’s all, hate these hormones and how they make u feel

I've had to have antibiotics this time as well. Hopefully when they are finished it'll mean you'll feel better in yourself as your body will be healing better and you will because to do more. Know what you mean about groundhog Day. Had small panic this week as the afternoon TV schedule had changed!

Hope you feel better soon and take care

Pickles31 · 29/11/2018 22:22
